The VTA is the “voice of trucking in Virginia,” making itself heard in the General Assembly and working with the American Trucking Associations in the halls of Congress. On many occasions, the VTA is the only road block that stands in the way of increased taxation and burdensome regulations. Not only does VTA lobby for trucking interests, it helps elect pro-trucking candidates through campaign contributions from its political action committee – the Truckers PAC of Virginia.

The VTA represents the industry on issues and problems before all governmental agencies and regulatory bodies dealing with truck transportation at local, state and national levels. With its years of experience, the VTA staff has the contacts within state agencies to get the answers and assistance you need.
The VTA’s experienced staff is oftentimes involved in the writing of trucking laws and regulations. Members receive access to their expertise and compliance assistance.
Through its Safety & Human Resources Management Council, the VTA conducts a number of safety initiatives in cooperation with all governmental and safety agencies to reduce highway and traffic losses and to improve the public’s perception and acceptance of the trucking industry. These include quarterly meetings, an annual conference, safety award programs, the Virginia Truck Driving Championships, Safety Breaks, and No-Zone programs.
The VTA’s public relations activity benefits every truck operator by providing information and facts that foster a better public understanding of the trucking industry. The constant goal is to assure an even better climate for the truck operator and industry in Virginia.
Each VTA Associate Member gets a free listing in the VTA Buyer’s Guide. This directory lists companies that supply products, equipment or services to the trucking industry in Virginia and have taken an active role in supporting Virginia’s trucking industry by becoming a VTA member. The Buyer’s Guide is published as part of our annual magazine as well as on our web site and is accessible to all truck operators in Virginia.
In conjunction with other affiliated organizations and service providers, the VTA sponsors a variety of training programs and instruction courses to improve safety and compliance, enhance employee performance and efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
