VIRGINIA TRUCKING ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONVENTION

The Omni Homestead Resort - Hot Springs, VA

September 23 – 25, 2017

Virginia’s trucking industry faces a number of very important issues as we move into the second half of 2018, leading up to the 2019 Session of the Virginia General Assembly.

• Your companies are being targeted with truck-only tolls to pay for 100% of the costs of future improvements to I-81 in Virginia.

• The road building industry is supporting truck-only tolls on I-81 and has called for a weight-distance tax on trucks operating in Virginia.

• The shortage of qualified drivers is becoming a crisis that is impacting trucking and logistics.

• VDOT is considering the implications of Virginia participating in a pilot program to allow the operation of 91,000 lbs., 6-axle trucks on our interstate highways.

• DMV is studying the possibility of outsourcing skills testing for CDLs.

• Carriers involved in crashes in Virginia continue to be victimized with excessive towing charges.

As the only statewide organization in Virginia dedicated solely to representing the interests of the trucking industry in the Commonwealth, you can rest assured that the Virginia Trucking Association and its premiere trucking fleet and vendor members will lead the way in dealing with these challenges.

We hope you will attend the VTA’s 2018 Annual Convention to learn more about the challenges we face and the issues impacting your business, network with your industry peers and customers and have some fun! If you, or your boss, thinks a conference like this isn’t worth attending, please consider these benefits of being there:

• In-person conferences provide an opportunity for questions and dialogue with speakers and experts that you cannot get online or from reading a magazine or newsletter.

• Meeting and networking with your peers and other professionals helps you look at problems from different angles and get ideas to solve those problems.

• Meeting new contacts and friends in the industry will give you resources to call on for advice and assistance in the future.

• Live conferences provide the right mental and physical environment to help you focus and think strategically. Oftentimes, people learn better through the experiences and examples of others.

• In-person conferences give you the ability to learn first-hand about initiatives, strategies and technologies that can help your company’s bottom line.

We hope you will invest some of your time and money to attend this year’s Annual Convention to learn more about why it is critical for you and your company to commit to helping the VTA effectively represent your interests and grow into a stronger, more powerful organization.

We look forward to seeing you at the Omni Homestead!
